COMING EVENTS

HOLY TRINITY PANTRY: As always, we appreciate your ongoing support of the pantry.  Right now we especially need laundry detergent, dish detergent, paper towels, and shampoo.  Thanks for all your past and continuing support!  No time to shop?  Give us some money and we’ll do it for you. (Wooden boxes for contributions are in the Narthex.)  Thanks, Geoff, Stephanie, and Judith

NEW DISHES ARE IN THE KITCHEN and you can help pay for them!  A stroke of inspiration and luck sent a parishioner to the Corelle outlet on a day of sales and generous coupon.  As a result we now have 120 soup bowls (to join the 30 or so we already have) and 86 dessert plates.  (Another 34 are on order).  We’ve frequently expressed a need for both, especially for community dinners.  The total so far was $358 which now sits on said parishioner’s credit card, and she would welcome help in retiring this debt quickly!  If you would like to help, please write a check or put money in the plate; either should be designated “for new kitchen dishes.” If Steve collects more than the total needed, we can use it for the rest of the dessert plates or to purchase additional dessert bowls for frozen or liquidy desserts.  (Or, if you specify in a note to Steve, your contribution can be returned to you; but please don’t wait to make a contribution to see if you are one of the lucky late ones – the credit card bill looms!)

COMMUNITY DINNER is January 27 this month.  Who will volunteer to oversee this important event?  A sign-up sheert is in the narthex for the 12 dates of 2010 – sign up today!  If you aren’t sure what this involves, talk to Mila Ganeva, who just did this the week of Christmas; it’s not as difficult as you may imagine.

KROGER CARDS are again available.  If you need one or want more information about how they work please see or phone Linda Church (523-4356) or Judy Shaw (523-3493).  Proceeds from these cards support the Holy Trinity food outreach projects of the Community Dinner, Serve City dinner and the Community Food Pantry.  Cards are available from Linda, Judy, or in the church office.

KEEP UP WITH MEDICAL MISSIONARIES in the Dominican Republic, Drs. Michael and Anita Dohn.  To be good stewards of their resources they will send you their newsletters online.  Check out their website – http://dohnfamily.org – and send them your e-mail so they can send you their news.

HOLY TRINITY RECYCLES: Containers for recycling: (1) Plastic bags; (2) batteries; (3) #1 clear plastic containers (look for the triangle with 1 on the bottom and on any detached lids); (4) fluorescent (not incandescent) bulbs are now located in the Bishop’s Foyer.  Please remember that all recyclables that Rumpke takes (paper, cardboard, #1 and #2 plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars) can be placed in the kitchen & Old Rectory recycling bins.

MEDICINE BOTTLES AND ART CATALYSTS:  A separate container in the Bishop’s Foyer (the largest) is for medicine bottles and craft catalysts.  Mary Fahnestock-Thomas collects medicine bottles for use by clinics in needy areas as well as anything for early childhood schools in Oxford that could stimulate young minds in arts and crafts:  bottle and jar lids, buttons; paper towel and toilet tissue rolls; reusable plastic containers and small bottles; fabric, ribbon and yarn scraps; spools; basically anything that can be reused creatively.ibbon and yarn scraps; spools; basically anything that can be reused creatively.
