Adult Forum Explores Origins and Meaning of Christmas Traditions:
Advent is a time of preparations. For the season, Adult Forum will present a look at the history, traditions and practices of the Christmas season as we prepare for the feast of the Incarnation. Today Carrie Galsworthy will present a session on the origins of Christmas Customs and Symbols. On December 13, Jenny and Cleve Callison will discuss symbols in Christmas Art, Carols and Hymns (part 1). And on December 20, Peter Williams will lead the group discussion of Carols and Hymns (part 2).

“Christmas in the Country” tonight from 5-9 p.m. at the Schmitts. Get tickets from Harriet or Ted today!

Lessons and Carols is next week, December 13th! Plan to join us for this celebration of the season, in worship and fellowship. A potluck feast follows the 5:00 p.m. service.

HOLY TRINITY PANTRY: As always, we appreciate your ongoing support of the pantry. Right now we need toilet paper, paper towels, shaving cream and razors, laundry detergent. No time to ship? Give us some money and we’ll do it for you. (Wooden boxes for contributions are in the Narthex.) Thanks, Geoff, Stephanie, and Judith

The Christmas Offering this year will be divided equally between the Oxford College Corner Medical Clinic and the Episcopal Community Services Foundation. As you no doubt know, the Clinic provides a variety of medical services to low-income persons in the two communities and is staffed almost entirely by volunteers. At this difficult time, there is certainly a need for their services. The Episcopal Community Services Foundation is the “outreach ann” of our own Diocese that provides grants to churches for a wide range of programs. It was through ECSF that our own Community Choice Pantry received a grant of$5,000 a little over a year ago. It is the hope ofthe Outreach Commission that the parish will respond generously as the Christmas offering is the only way that these two deserving organizations can received funds from Holy Trinity this year.

Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.

KEEP UP WITH MEDICAL MISSIONARIES in the Dominican Republic, Drs. Michael and Anita Dohu. To be good stewards of their resources they will send you their newsletters online. Check out their website — http://dohnfamily.org – and send them your e-mail so they can send you their news.

HOLY TRINITY RECYCLES: Containers for recycling: (I) Plastic bags; (2) batteries; (3) #1 clear plastic containers (look for the triangle with I on the bottom and on any detached lids); (4) fluorescent (not incandescent) bulbs are now located in the Bishop’s Foyer. Please remember that all recyclables that Rumpke takes (paper, cardboard, #1 and #2 plastic bottles, glass bottles and jars) can be placed in the kitchen & Old Rectory recycling bins.

MEDICINE BOTTLES AND ART CATALYSTS: A separate container in the Bishop’s Foyer (the largest) is for medicine bottles and craft catalysts. Mary Fahnestock-Thomas collects medicine bottles for use by clinics in needy areas as well as anything for early childhood schools in Oxford that could stimulate young minds in arts and crafts: bottle andjar lids, buttons; paper towel and toilet tissue rolls; reusable plastic containers and small bottles; fabric, ribbon and yam scraps; spools; basically anything that can be reused creatively.
